freezing

my wife's insane audio FJ1001 is frozen. This has happened a lot recently. And the screen does not turn off. How do I fix this radio? It is getting really old!

Well, FWIW, I do not have an FJ. But digital devices do not like dirty power or intermittent connections on lines. I would start with cleaning the battery connections and ensuring that the radio gets clean power. Even to the point of removing and reinstalling the fuses to be sure they have a clean contact. I would also pull apart and reconnect all the connection to the radio itself. And don't forget the fuse in the back of the 1001.

Beyond that, have you seen anything that seems to cause it to lock up? Example, driving over bumps?

Have you tried the reset button on the face of the unit when this happens? Also, you might want to consider a factory data reset. It's possible that Google or some other app has tried to update itself and did a partial install which leads to some instability. Factory Data Reset almost always gets you back to a clean state.
