OEM Backup Camera

I want to pull the trigger on this radio but want to keep my OEM camera for backup. I have not found anything on it. Is it possible? How?

Hey, Mike1! Does your OEM camera go to your head unit or mirror? If you've got a FJ with the mirror camera -- no worries. All that works fine.

Hi, Mike. Your mirror camera will continue to work just like it always has. We don't know of anyone who has gotten their stock backup camera to work with their FJ1001.. but it's theoretically possible. You'd have to trace the wires to your mirror, tap into them and wire up to an RCA video plug then connect to your FJ1001. You'd also have to run a wire from your reverse lights as a trigger wire. Definitely not plug and play, but certainly possible.

That being said, most folks with the built-in reverse mirror just continue to use that.. then they tend to wire ADDITIONAL cameras up to their FJ1001. For example, you can install a front facing rock cam (like Insane Audio's IACAM1 or IACAM2) and wire that up to the aux video input on your FJ1001. You can then access that camera anytime through the AVIN app. So then you've got your reverse camera in your mirror and an aux camera on the touch screen.
