Torque Running May Prevent Pairing a Mobile Device

Post by InSaNeAuDiOSupport5 » Tue May 08, 2018 3:18 pm

We found an interesting edge case here in the shop where Torque can interfere with connecting a mobile device via Bluetooth. This happens if Torque is open in the background but not paired to the OBD2 adapter. This situation makes it impossible to pair a mobile device because Torque is doing what it’s supposed to do, searching for the OBD2 adapter, but if it isn’t able to find one and continues to search in the background it will prevent you from pairing a mobile device to your unit with Bluetooth.

There are two easy solutions to this issue. Either, (A) pair your OBD2 adapter and get it set up with Torque. Here are instructions for doing that: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4304 or (B) exit Torque cleanly. If you hit the home button to get out of Torque, the app will continue to run in the background.

To exit Torque cleanly:
1) Open Torque
2) Swipe down from the top of your screen
3) Tap the back button to navigate to the Torque home screen
4) Tap the gear icon in the lower left corner
5) Tap “Quit.” This will close the app instead of letting it continue to run in the background.
