Hi, there. I just ordered the JK1001 from 4 Wheel Parts for my 2014 Rubicon. In anticipation for it's arrival, I've been reviewing your installation manual... I noticed in the tips section that you say "We don’t
recommend that you leave the OBD connector plugged in all the time". Why is that exactly??
Thanks and I can't wait to get my new JK1001!!!!
Continuous use of OBD adapter?

Re: Continuous use of OBD adapter?
Hi, there! Great question.
Your Jeep's OBD port was designed for diagnostics and not necessarily for continuous use. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend using things as designed. That being said, we are unaware of any adverse effects of continuous use and we have tested extensively. Lastly, the adapter does draw a small current so if you left it plugged in and parked for an extremely long time, it could theoretically drain your battery.
We hope you enjoy your new JK1001! When you get it, be sure to come back to the forum and post some pics!

Re: Continuous use of OBD adapter?
It should work continuously, I have a Bullydog Tuner that remains connected to the OBD port and receives continuous OBD info.

That doesn't seem right... please hit up our support staff at support@insanejeepaudio.com. You should setup Torque the first time and it should automatically connect from then on. Someone may need to give you a call to step through your settings with you.dsteele485 wrote:It should work continuously, I have a Bullydog Tuner that remains connected to the OBD port and receives continuous OBD info. However, the JK1001 wireless module on mine requires re-setup everytime I start my Jeep. Makes the Torque app pretty much useless as it's a pain to do that each time I start. I have to go into settings, deselect the OBD (btw the cryptic device names don't help) then reconnect it. Sometimes I have to do this 2 - 3 times to get it to work so I just don't use it anymore and hooked my BullyDog back up.
Re: Continuous use of OBD adapter?
Are there any hard-wired OBD adapters that work with the JK1001 instead of the bluetooth? I'm one that I would prefer to have this on 24/7 so I could pull it up whenever I'd like, but I prefer to stay away from wireless if I can.

Re: Continuous use of OBD adapter?
No. The JK1001 is designed to connect to a bluetooth enabled OBDII adapter and there isn't an option to hardwire a connection. The reality is that most folks just leave it plugged in all the time with no problems. To be honest, it's been in our test vehicle continuously for over a year.timmy wrote:Are there any hard-wired OBD adapters that work with the JK1001 instead of the bluetooth?
